About The Book Nook Stewarton

In 2020, The Book Nook joined the growing number of independent lifestyle shops, cafes and restaurants in Stewarton, making it a thriving community to live in, and a great destination to visit.

Sarah, owner of The Book Nook, has been passionate about books all her life and opening The Book Nook is a long held dream come true. ‘Books have always been a huge source of pleasure to me, being my inspiration, my learning, my escape, my relaxation and I really enjoy being able to share my love of books with others’.

The Book Nook began life in humble beginnings in a small shop unit on the High Street, furnished with bookshelves, desks, cabinets and furnishings all borrowed from Sarah’s home. Only eight days after opening, the shop had to close for the second Covid-19 lockdown. However, after re-opening in May 2021, Sarah’s vision for the shop really came to life and she began holding book clubs for adults and children, toddler story times and author events. Very quickly, it was clear The Book Nook had outgrown the space and bigger premises were required.

In October 2022, two years after opening, the shop moved along the High Street, expanding into much larger premises, creating a wonderful space to host the book clubs and author events.

Three years later, The Book Nook has made another exciting - and innovative - move! We have partnered with East Ayrshire Leisure Ltd and moved the shop into Stewarton Area Centre, bringing both the Library and our independent bookshop into the one building. What could be better for book lovers! Browse, borrow, buy - all in one place.

There will always be a very warm welcome for you at The Book Nook. The shop is an inviting and relaxing place to browse books, chat about books, and buy books for everyone. You can also enjoy a range of teas, coffees or hot chocolate while browsing and chatting about books!

We are proud to have been nominated for and won several awards since launching including winning Scotland’s Independent Bookshop of the Year in 2024 & 2025.
